The Island Council of Tenerife has issued warnings to five southern municipalities—Guía de Isora, Adeje, Arona, San Miguel de Abona, and Granadilla de Abona—advising them to prepare for severe sea conditions expected this Wednesday.
This precautionary measure follows the State Meteorological Agency’s (Aemet) activation of a yellow alert for coastal phenomena due to significant swells forecasted to impact the western, southern, and eastern coasts of the island.

The Cabildo’s President, Rosa Dávila, has urged the public to exercise extreme caution near coastal areas and adhere strictly to safety instructions provided by local authorities. The heavy swells, which started last night, are anticipated to intensify today, potentially reaching heights between 1.5 and 2 meters. These conditions are expected to cause alterations in sea currents and create hazardous drags in swimming zones.

To mitigate potential risks, local councils have been instructed to implement preventive strategies promptly. The significant tidal events today will see the first high tide at 11:20 AM and a subsequent one at 11:52 PM.
Given the memory of the April 10 storm that necessitated evacuations and inflicted considerable damage, the community remains vigilant, although this week’s wave impact is projected to be less severe.
