Residents and visitors of the Canary Islands can look forward to a significant relief in temperatures starting Monday afternoon. The high-altitude haze, known as calima, that has blanketed the islands in recent days will begin to dissipate. According to the Aemet, maximum temperatures will drop considerably after a weekend marked by heat alerts.
At sea, northeast winds of force 4 to 5 are expected, increasing to force 6 offshore with swell or strong swell, accompanied by waves from the north ranging from one to two meters.

Lanzarote
In the north, expect cloudy intervals, with partly cloudy skies during the central hours. The rest of the island will be mostly clear. There is a chance of light haze at high altitudes, which will retreat throughout the day. Temperatures will remain steady or slightly decrease, with more significant drops in maximum temperatures in inland areas. Moderate north winds with strong intervals in inland areas are expected.
Fuerteventura
The island will be mostly clear, with some cloudy intervals in the north and west during the early and late hours. Light haze may appear at high altitudes but will retreat as the day progresses. Temperatures will remain stable or slightly decrease, with more noticeable drops in maximum temperatures in inland areas, where the wind will be moderate. Expect moderate north winds, with strong intervals on the southern slopes of Jandía in the second half of the day.
Gran Canaria
In the north, below 700 meters, cloudy intervals will dominate late in the day. The rest of the island will be mostly clear, with some cloudy intervals on the east and west coasts at night. Light haze at high altitudes will affect the southern slopes but will gradually disappear throughout the day.
Temperatures will decrease slightly to moderately, with more significant drops in inland areas. However, temperatures will still reach 30-32ºC in the southern midlands and the Tejeda basin. Expect moderate northeasterly winds, with strong winds in the southeast and west, where gusts could locally exceed 70 km/h in the afternoon. Breezes will be present on the southwest coast.
Tenerife
In the north, below 700 to 800 meters, expect cloudy intervals, becoming more overcast towards the end of the day. The rest of the island will be mostly clear, with some morning and evening intervals on the southwest coast. Light haze at high altitudes, mainly affecting the southern slopes, will disappear gradually. Temperatures will drop slightly to moderately, with more significant drops in inland areas.
Moderate northeasterly winds will have strong intervals on the southeastern slope and northwestern tip. Strong winds may also occur on the southern slopes of Anaga towards the end of the day, with gusts potentially exceeding 70 km/h at times. Breezes are expected on the west coast, with light variable winds on central summits.
La Gomera
In the north, below 700 meters, expect cloudy intervals, becoming more overcast by the end of the day with large clearings in the central hours. The rest of the island will be mostly clear. Light haze at high altitudes on the southern slope may occur but will gradually disappear. Temperatures will decrease slightly to moderately, with more significant drops in maximum temperatures in inland areas. Moderate northeasterly winds with strong intervals in the east and west extremes are expected. Breezes will be present on the southwest coast.
La Palma
In the north and east, below 800 to 900 meters, expect cloudy intervals, becoming more overcast in the early and late hours. The rest of the island will be mostly clear, with some intervals on the southwest slope in the afternoon. Temperatures will decrease slightly to moderately, with more significant drops in inland areas. Moderate northeasterly winds with strong intervals in the extreme southeast and northwest during the second half of the day are expected. Breezes will be present on the west coast.
El Hierro
In the north, below 700 meters, expect cloudy intervals, becoming more overcast in the early and late hours. The rest of the island will be mostly clear.
