In a historic achievement, Compañía Cervecera de Canarias has made an impressive mark at the 2024 World Beer Awards by securing eight prestigious awards, further solidifying its reputation in the international beer industry. The accolades were distributed across its well-known brands, Tropical and Dorada.
At this globally recognized event, which serves as a major benchmark in the beer sector, Tropical 1924 and Dorada 0,0 Tostada emerged as standout winners. Each of these beers not only earned a gold medal but also claimed first place in their respective categories, a remarkable testament to their quality and craftsmanship.
In addition to these top honors, the Dorada Especial line received significant recognition, with three of its varieties earning silver medals: Dorada Especial la Original, Dorada Especial Tostada, and Dorada Especial Negra. This success underscores the consistent excellence of the Dorada brand, which has long been a favorite in the Canary Islands.
Tropical’s Sin Filtros variety also earned a spot on the podium, taking home a bronze medal. This recognition is particularly notable given the fierce competition, with over 3,200 beers from more than 50 countries vying for honors at the event.
Naveen Mehra, CEO of Cervecera de Canarias, expressed pride in the company’s achievements, highlighting the exceptional brewing skills that define their products. Raquel Díaz Peñate, the quality manager and expert taster at the Gran Canaria brewery, shared her excitement about the accolades for Tropical 1924 and Tropical Sin Filtros. She described Tropical 1924 as a special beer with rich aromas of fresh hops and roasted malt, and praised Tropical Sin Filtros for its natural turbidity and complex blend of fruity, citrus, and herbaceous aromas, which maintain a surprising lightness.
Cervecera de Canarias: Commitment to Excellence
Tropical 1924, crafted with Herkules, Perle, and other aromatic floral hops, is distinguished by its perfect balance of aroma and bitterness. This German-style lager offers subtle fruity notes with a hint of caramel, resulting in a full-bodied beer that stands out among its peers.
Dorada 0.0 Tostada, the first of its kind in the Canary Islands, combines barley malt, corn, hops, and a distinctive caramel flavor, offering a balanced and refreshing taste experience.
Dorada Especial la Original, which has accumulated 17 awards over its eight-decade history, continues to impress with its 100% natural ingredients and a meticulously crafted extra-maturing process that enhances its full-bodied, intense flavor. Dorada Especial Tostada, known for its reddish hue and caramelized notes, and Dorada Especial Negra, with its masterful combination of malts and hops, also exemplify the brand’s dedication to quality.
Tropical Sin Filtros, an unfiltered beer that retains the natural properties of its ingredients, is characterized by its turbidity, a result of the yeast remaining in suspension, which adds depth and complexity to its flavor profile.
These eight new awards add to the nine medals and distinctions that Cervecera de Canarias has received at the World Beer Awards since 2020.
