Santa Cruz de Tenerife now boasts 18 locations that have been awarded the prestigious quality seal by the Integral System of Tourist Quality in Destination (Sicted). This distinction recognizes places that meet the high demands and expectations of the tourism sector. The announcement was made by the Mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, who emphasized the municipality’s strong commitment to providing tourists with top-tier experiences and services.
Mayor Bermúdez highlighted that this recognition has positioned Santa Cruz de Tenerife as one of the leading municipalities in the Canary Islands in terms of distinguished tourist sites. He added that the local council is dedicated to ensuring that these sites are not only excellent but also sustainable, modern, and innovative.
Carmen Pérez, CEO of the Development Company, echoed this sentiment, noting that the tourism sector in Santa Cruz works tirelessly to ensure that visitors experience the essential attractions of the capital and receive the best possible service. She also expressed satisfaction that the recognized sites span a wide range of categories, including museums, information offices, parks, and beaches.
The 18 locations in Santa Cruz that have earned this recognition include Las Teresitas Beach, the Maritime Park, the Palmetum, the García Sanabria Park Art Gallery, the Los Lavaderos Art Gallery, and the San Cristóbal Castle Interpretation Centre.
Additionally, the Canary Islands Military History Museum, the La Recova Art Centre, the Municipal Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Nature and Archaeology, Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, the La Recova Market, the Carnival House, the Tenerife Auditorium, the Guimerá Theatre, the Municipal Library, the Interpretation Centre of the 1st and 2nd International Street Sculpture Exhibitions (1973 and 1994), and the CajaCanarias Cultural Space have also been awarded the Sicted quality seal.
Since 2020, the Development Society has encouraged local businesses to join this initiative. Over 55 companies from 16 different sectors have collaborated, with seven receiving Sicted awards in various categories established by the Secretary of State for Tourism.
