Weather warnings across the Canary Islands this Wednesday

In the western province thermometers will range from a maximum of 31ºC in Tenerife to a minimum of 18ºC in El Hierro.

The Canary Islands are experiencing a range of weather conditions this Wednesday, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). In the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the day will start with intervals of medium and high clouds, which will gradually clear up throughout the morning, leading to mostly clear skies by the afternoon.


However, in the northern and northeastern low-lying areas, particularly below 500 to 600 metres, there will be some cloudy intervals in the morning, with skies clearing later in the day. A high-altitude haze is expected but will gradually dissipate.

Temperatures are expected to remain relatively stable, with slight increases in higher elevations. In the southern and western midlands, temperatures could reach between 30ºC and 32ºC. The forecast predicts a maximum of 31ºC in Tenerife, while El Hierro will experience cooler conditions with a minimum of 18ºC.

Winds will blow moderately from the northeast, with strong gusts expected in the southeast and extreme northwest regions, potentially reaching very strong levels locally. Breezes are also expected along the western coastlines.

Weather forecast for the Province of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

For the province of Las Palmas, including Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura, the weather pattern is similar. Gran Canaria will see cloudy intervals of medium and high clouds in the morning, transitioning to clear skies as the day progresses. Northern low-lying areas, below 400 to 500 metres, will experience cloudy intervals early on, with clear skies dominating by the afternoon and high-altitude haze gradually fading.

In Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, there will be cloudy intervals on the east and west coasts early in the day, which will clear up by mid-morning, leading to predominantly clear skies with occasional high clouds. Temperatures in this region will be stable, with slight increases in higher areas. The midlands on the western, southern, and southeastern slopes may see temperatures rise to around 34ºC.

In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, temperatures will vary between a maximum of 26ºC and a minimum of 23ºC. The winds will be moderate from the northeast, with strong gusts expected on the southeast and northwest slopes, and breezes along the southwest coast.

Overall, residents and visitors across the Canary Islands should prepare for varying weather conditions, particularly in the higher elevations and coastal regions, where wind and temperature fluctuations may be significant.
