The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a weather forecast for Monday, 2nd September, predicting notable wind conditions across the Canary Islands. According to Aemet, the day will start with mostly clear skies over the central peaks, while the northern regions will experience intervals of cloud cover, particularly during the early morning and late evening hours. Other areas of the islands will remain mostly clear or slightly cloudy, with some occasional cloudiness expected in the west.
Temperature Forecast
Temperatures across the Canary Islands are expected to show minimal variation, with a slight increase in maximum temperatures predicted, especially at higher elevations. The forecast indicates a range from a maximum of 29 degrees Celsius in Tenerife to a minimum of 16 degrees Celsius on the island of El Hierro.
Wind Conditions
Winds are expected to blow moderately from the northeast throughout the archipelago. However, areas on the southeast slopes and the northwest points may experience stronger gusts in the afternoon, with locally very strong gusts not being ruled out. On Mount Teide, winds will remain light and variable in direction, while coastal regions on the western side will experience gentle breezes.
Marine Conditions
Regarding sea conditions, the forecast indicates that winds will blow from the north or northeast with a force of 4 to 6 on the northeast and southeast coasts of the archipelago, and occasionally at some western points.
The sea will have swells, with the potential for strong swells along various parts of the island’s coastlines. Additionally, waves are expected to reach heights of one to two metres, particularly from the north.
Given these conditions, residents and visitors are advised to exercise caution, especially in areas prone to strong winds and rough seas.
