Metrotenerife will activate the winter timetable for the tram service beginning on Monday, 9th September, to meet the increased demand for public transport driven by the ongoing economic recovery in the metropolitan area and the start of the new school term. The revised schedule aims to offer greater frequency and improved convenience for daily commuters and students returning to schools and universities.
Details of the Winter Tram Timetable:
Starting on Monday, from Monday to Friday, Line 1 will increase its frequency to operate every 5 minutes during peak hours, while Line 2 will run every 10 minutes. Metrotenerife has issued a reminder that the updated service timetables can be accessed on the official website and through its social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter (@tranviatenerife).
The winter timetable will be in effect from the early morning hours, with the first trams departing at 06:00. The increased frequency will help accommodate a larger number of passengers during the busiest times of the day.
Service Frequency and Operational Hours:
- Line 1:
Line 1, which connects the key metropolitan hubs, will run every 5 minutes from 07:00 to 15:00, accommodating the morning and midday rush. After 15:00, the trams will operate at intervals of 6 minutes, 12 minutes, and 15 minutes, depending on the time of day, until the final service at midnight (24:00). This frequent service aims to ensure smooth transportation during peak hours when passenger numbers are highest, particularly for those commuting to and from work and educational institutions. - Line 2:
Line 2 will maintain a frequency of 10 minutes during the morning and midday periods, addressing the needs of passengers traveling within the secondary routes and suburban areas. Following these peak times, the service will continue at 12-minute and 15-minute intervals until the end of the day at midnight. The revised timetable is designed to provide consistent service throughout the day, ensuring minimal waiting times for passengers.
Weekend and Public Holiday Services:
For weekends and public holidays, Metrotenerife will continue its existing timetable, which remains uninterrupted throughout the year. This means that there will be no changes to the weekend schedule, ensuring a reliable service for those traveling for leisure or other purposes.
Access to Timetables and Updates:
Metrotenerife encourages passengers to check the official website and follow their social media accounts for the latest information on the timetable and service changes. The company aims to provide transparency and up-to-date information to help passengers plan their journeys effectively.
The implementation of the winter timetable reflects Metrotenerife’s commitment to enhancing public transport services, ensuring that residents and visitors of Tenerife have reliable, frequent, and convenient travel options throughout the metropolitan area during the busy winter season.
