Public holidays in the Canary Islands for the coming months: One less long weekend this year

Several public holidays remain in the Canary Islands this year, but one long weekend will be lost as the Day of the Immaculate Conception falls on a Sunday.

As the year draws to a close, it’s important to be aware of the remaining public holidays in the Canary Islands for 2024. While many public holidays have already been observed, a few still remain at national, regional, and island levels.

The schedule, established by the Regional Ministry of Tourism and Employment, led by Jéssica de León, designates all Sundays of the year and the following public holidays as non-working, paid days that are not to be recovered:

National Holidays Remaining in 2024:

  • 12th October: Spanish National Holiday
  • 1st November: All Saints’ Day
  • 6th December: Spanish Constitution Day
  • 25th December: Nativity of the Lord

This year, 8th December, the Day of the Immaculate Conception, falls on a Sunday and will not be observed as a public holiday. This means there will be one less long weekend than in 2023.
