The Government of the Canary Islands has approved the 2025 public holiday calendar for the entire archipelago. This calendar was established following a draft decree and gives local councils a month to decide on local holidays that are significant for their regions.
Regional Public Holidays:

The following are the general public holidays applicable throughout the Canary Islands in 2025:
- 1 January: New Year’s Day
- 6 January: Epiphany of the Lord
- 17 April: Maundy Thursday
- 18 April: Good Friday
- 1 May: Labour Day
- 30 May: Canary Islands Day
- 15 August: Assumption of the Virgin
- 1 November: All Saints’ Day
- 6 December: Spanish Constitution Day
- 8 December: Immaculate Conception
- 25 December: Nativity of the Lord (Christmas Day)
Island-Specific Holidays:

Each island in the Canary archipelago will also celebrate specific holidays that are traditional and significant to them. These holidays include:
- 3 February: Virgen de Candelaria (Tenerife)
- 5 July: Bajada de la Virgen de los Reyes (El Hierro)
- 5 August: Nuestra Señora de Las Nieves (La Palma)
- 19 September: Nuestra Señora de la Peña (Fuerteventura)
- 8 September: Nuestra Señora del Pino (Gran Canaria)
- 15 September: Nuestra Señora de Los Volcanes (Lanzarote and La Graciosa)
- 6 October: Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe (La Gomera)
Local Holidays:

The Canarian town councils now have one month from the publication of the decree in the Official Bulletin of the Canary Islands (BOC) to submit proposals for their local non-working holidays. These holidays are unpaid, non-recoverable, and are based on each municipality’s unique traditions.
