Significant rise in temperatures and strong winds expected in the Canary Islands

The Aemet has announced a significant rise in temperatures across the Canary Islands, with strong winds and heat expected to impact certain areas over the coming days.

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued an alert regarding a notable increase in temperatures in the Canary Islands in the coming days. This rise in temperatures is expected to have a more pronounced impact on certain islands and may lead to weather conditions that could pose challenges. The forecast for the next two days, Wednesday, 2nd October, and Thursday, 3rd October, outlines the expected weather patterns and potential hazards.

Wednesday, 2nd October

Aemet has issued a yellow alert for La Palma and La Gomera due to strong winds, which will persist on both Wednesday and Thursday. Very strong gusts are anticipated on the summits, as well as the southeast and northwest slopes of these islands, particularly during the afternoon. However, these gusts may also affect other mountainous islands across the archipelago.

In the provincial capitals, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will experience a temperature range of 22ºC to 26ºC, while Santa Cruz de Tenerife will see temperatures between 23ºC and 29ºC.
