A cold front is set to impact the Canary Islands this Monday, as well as the northwest and Cantabrian regions of Spain, according to the forecast by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). The day will see a drop in maximum temperatures in the northwest, along the Mediterranean coast, and in the midlands of the Canary Islands. Minimum temperatures will also decrease in Galicia and the northern plateau.
In Galicia, the provinces of Lugo and A Coruña are under a yellow warning due to high waves. Southwest winds of 50 km/h are expected, generating waves up to five meters high.
Weather Conditions Across Spain

In the northwest and Cantabrian regions, skies will be mostly cloudy, with rains as the front moves through. The rain will be heaviest in western Galicia, while other areas will experience lighter, more sporadic showers, particularly in the western Pyrenees and northern Iberian region later in the day.
In the Balearic Islands, unstable weather is expected, with cloudy skies and occasional showers. The coastal areas of Catalonia and the Valencian Community may also experience some rain towards the end of the day. Meanwhile, in the Canary Islands, the forecast predicts mostly cloudy skies, with intervals of medium and high clouds, and low clouds in the northern parts of the mountainous islands.
Temperature and Wind Changes

The cold front will bring a drop in maximum temperatures in the northwest, the Mediterranean arc, and the Canary midlands, while the southern plateau will see a slight rise in temperatures. Minimum temperatures will fall in Galicia and the northern plateau but rise in the Balearic Islands, northern Aragon, northern Catalonia, and the eastern Andalusian mountains.
Winds will blow from the south and southwest in the northwest quadrant and the Cantabrian region, with strong gusts likely along the Galician coasts, shifting to north and northwest later. Moderate easterly winds are expected in the Strait of Gibraltar, while northeastern winds will prevail in the Balearic Islands and the northern Mediterranean coast. Elsewhere, lighter winds will dominate, with variable conditions in some areas.

The Canary Islands, known for their typically mild climate, are bracing for colder weather, particularly in the midlands, as this cold front moves in.
