The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has announced the much-anticipated weather shift for the Canary Islands: the persistent haze is expected to clear, making way for rain across the archipelago. Today’s forecast predicts predominantly cloudy intervals, especially in the northern regions, while other areas will experience partly cloudy or clear skies.
In La Palma and Tenerife, clouds will increase in the afternoon over inland areas, with a chance of light rainfall in southern Tenerife. Temperatures are set to drop slightly to moderately, with the most noticeable decreases in daytime highs. The wind will start moderately from the northeast, gradually shifting northward during the second half of the day.
In Gran Canaria, northern regions will see compact cloud coverage in the morning, while skies will be clearer in other areas. Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will have partly cloudy skies with occasional intervals.
Temperatures will be stable or slightly lower in the minimum range, with a more noticeable drop in low-lying southern areas, while maximum temperatures will decline moderately, particularly on the southern and western slopes. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria can expect temperatures between 26ºC and 21ºC.
Winds will remain moderate from the northeast, with occasional stronger gusts on the western tip, as well as on the southeastern and northwestern slopes, turning north by the afternoon. Breezes will affect the southwest coasts.
