Poetics in form: Román Hernández exhibition at the CIT in Santa Cruz de Tenerife

The Centre for Initiatives and Tourism (CIT) in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is currently hosting an exceptional exhibition by the acclaimed sculptor Román Hernández, entitled Poética de la razón (Poetics of Reason). Open to the public from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the CIT’s headquarters on Elías Serra Rafols, s/n (Chalet CIT), the exhibition will remain on display until its closure at the end of August.

This thought-provoking collection brings together a series of autonomous sculptures that, when experienced collectively, articulate a powerful reflection on the relationship between humanity, geometry, and poetic expression. Each piece contributes to a larger philosophical journey, exploring the structural and symbolic dimensions of the human experience.

Hernández invites visitors to consider sculpture as a poetic language, where form and proportion are not merely aesthetic choices but instruments of meaning. His works challenge and inspire, offering a meditative space to contemplate the geometry of existence and the emotional resonance of material forms.

The exhibition underscores the CIT’s continued dedication to promoting culture as a core value and dynamic force on the island. It offers both residents and visitors a unique opportunity to engage with contemporary Canarian art that bridges tradition and innovation.

As Román Hernández explains, “Sculpture and poetry are profound forms of expression that speak directly to our perception, inviting us to reflect on the nature of human beings, the geometry of our existence, and the meaning of what surrounds us.”
