The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued its revised weather forecast for the Canary Islands for Monday, 5 May, highlighting the potential for significant wind activity in some areas.
General Conditions Across the Archipelago
The day will begin with predominantly cloudy skies, featuring medium and high-altitude clouds, which are expected to increase as the day progresses, particularly during the afternoon and evening. In the northern and western regions, low clouds will also be present in the morning, gradually giving way to clearer conditions. By midday, southern areas may experience occasional increases in cloud cover.
Temperatures are expected to remain relatively stable throughout the islands. Forecasted highs will reach up to 24°C in Tenerife, while lows may dip to around 12°C on El Hierro.
Wind Conditions

The wind will blow moderately from the northeast, becoming stronger in southern low-lying zones, where gusts could be more pronounced. In high-altitude mountain regions, winds will be moderate to strong and will shift from a westerly direction. Along the western coast, local breezes are expected to dominate.
Forecast for the Eastern Canary Islands (Province of Las Palmas)
Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria is set to experience a sky filled predominantly with high clouds from the early morning hours. Medium-level clouds may also appear sporadically throughout the day. Low clouds will be limited, likely occurring only in the north and mostly during the night in the form of intermittent patches.
Lanzarote and Fuerteventura

Both islands will see intermittent high and medium clouds, although low cloud formations will be sparse, with some limited development during the night in northern and western parts.
Temperature ranges across the eastern province will remain steady, with Las Palmas de Gran Canaria expecting a mild high of 22°C and a low of 18°C.
Winds will blow moderately from the northeast across all three islands. In mountain areas, the wind will be lighter and come from the west, while south-western coastal areas can expect gentle sea breezes.
