Airports across the Canary Islands welcomed a total of 4,589,804 passengers in April 2025, reflecting a 9% increase compared to the same month last year, according to data published by Aena, Spain’s national airport operator.
Of these, 4,568,281 were commercial passengers, with:
- 1,853,878 domestic travellers (+8.5% year-on-year), and
- 2,714,403 international travellers (+9.7% year-on-year).
This rise underscores the continued growth in tourism and inter-island connectivity across the archipelago.
Airport Activity and Cargo Statistics

In addition to the surge in passenger numbers, Canary Islands airports handled:
- 40,330 aircraft movements in April (+5.8%)
- 2,654 tonnes of cargo, marking a decline of 11.4% compared to April 2024
Airport-by-Airport Breakdown – April 2025
- Gran Canaria Airport:
- 1,348,463 passengers (+12.3%) — highest in the region
- Tenerife South:
- 1,157,851 passengers (+5.4%)
- Lanzarote (César Manrique Airport):
- 745,331 passengers (+5.2%)
- Tenerife North – Ciudad de La Laguna:
- 592,481 passengers (+9.6%)
- Fuerteventura:
- 580,937 passengers (+14.2%)
- La Palma:
- 129,102 passengers (+9.4%)
- El Hierro:
- 24,887 passengers (+4.3%)
- La Gomera:
- 10,752 passengers (+14.1%)
Cumulative Figures for 2025 (January–April)

Between January and April 2025, Canary Islands airports recorded:
- 18,733,561 passengers in total, a 4.9% increase over the same period in 2024.
- Of these, 18,620,865 were commercial passengers:
- 6,786,201 on domestic flights (+4.5%)
- 11,834,664 on international flights (+5.4%)
- 164,450 aircraft movements were handled in this period (+5.6%)
- 10,560 tonnes of cargo were transported, down 3.8% from last year
Aena Group – Global Performance in April 2025
Across its entire network, including 46 airports and two heliports in Spain, London Luton Airport, and 17 airports in Brazil, the Aena Group reported:
- 32,342,698 passengers in April 2025 (+6.2%)
- 274,866 aircraft movements (+0.9%)
- 119,766 tonnes of cargo transported, marking a 6.8% increase
It is worth noting that Holy Week (Semana Santa) occurred in April 2025, whereas in 2024 it took place in March, contributing to the year-on-year growth in travel activity.
