The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has released an updated weather forecast for the Canary Islands for Wednesday, 28 May, indicating a stable day overall, characterised by clear or partly cloudy skies and a consistent pattern of moderate winds. Some islands will experience localised cloud cover in the early and late hours, especially in the north and northeast, before clearer conditions set in during daylight hours.
General Conditions
- Sky: Expect intervals of low cloud in the north and northeast during nighttime and early morning, gradually giving way to widespread sunny conditions throughout the day.
- Temperatures: No significant changes are expected in temperatures. The highest daytime values will reach 26°C in Tenerife, while the lowest will dip to around 14°C in El Hierro. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, temperatures will range between 20°C and 24°C.
- Winds: Moderate north-easterly winds will be a defining feature, with strong gusts likely on the southeast and northwest slopes of the mountainous islands. Tenerife’s metropolitan southeast coast is also expected to see stronger wind activity, with a low probability of locally very strong gusts, especially towards the evening.
Maritime Conditions

- Wind at sea: Winds from the north and northeast will blow at force 4 to 6, leading to rough to very rough seas.
- Swell: Groundswells from the north or northeast are expected to reach 1 to 2 metres, mainly affecting northern coastal zones.
