Tenerife will celebrate Canary Islands Day with music, food, and traditional festivities across the island.

On 30 May, Tenerife comes alive to celebrate Canary Islands Day with a vibrant programme of free public events that showcase the archipelago’s rich cultural heritage. Across the island, municipalities will host folk music, traditional games, crafts, wine and food tastings, and performances—perfect for families, couples, and friends to enjoy.


SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE: A Hub of Festivities

  • Wine Tasting: Calle La Noria from midday.
  • Folk Group Performances: Groups including Itamar, Monte Nevado, and Bienmesabe.
  • Traditional Games & Culture:
    • Plaza de la Iglesia de La Concepción: Domino Tournament from 12:00.
    • Campo de Castro: Animal Exhibition (12:00–18:00).
    • Plaza de España: Wrestling, stick fighting, Bola Canaria (10:00–14:00 & 16:00–20:00), and the ARTEFE Craft Fair.
  • Gastronomic Highlights:
    • Alameda del Duque de Santa Elena: Traditional Canarian food contest (12:00), with a live cooking show and awards at 15:00.

  • Music & Entertainment:
    • Plaza de La Candelaria: Santa Cruz Municipal Band, folk group Payba (12:00); Tigaray & Luis Morera (17:30); comedian Darío López (19:00).
    • Closing Concert: Iconic Canarian group Los Sabandeños, followed by a low-noise fireworks display.
  • Children’s Activities: Plaza de Correos & Plaza del Cabildo host kid-friendly programmes from 12:00 to 20:00.
  • Traditional Parade: Around the Cuadrilátero at midday with local cultural associations.

LA LAGUNA: Market Festivities on 1 June

  • Municipal Market (10:30–13:00): Includes children’s crafts, live music by San Juan Canarian band, and wine & cheese tastings.

LA OROTAVA

  • Photo Marathon in Plaza de la Constitución (10:00).
  • Traditional Games by cultural group La Escalera.
  • Canary Islands Day Concert: Orotava Music Group and Puerto de la Cruz Band at the Casa de la Cultura (12:00).

LA GUANCHA

  • Organic Produce Fair at FICMEC: 30–31 May and 1 June.

ARONA

  • Farmers’ Market at Valle San Lorenzo: Tasting of local products and music from A.F. Amigos de Punta Rasca.

GRANADILLA DE ABONA

  • 30 May (18:00–01:00): Children’s gastronomy workshop, guided wine tastings (D.O. Abona), and performances by local bands at Parque de Los Hinojeros.
  • 20:00: Opening ceremony of 2025 Granadilla Festivities and honouring of artisan Idayra Quintero.

SAN MIGUEL DE ABONA

  • Magicians’ Dance: 30 May at 19:30, featuring folk performances, tastings and comedy. Table bookings available until 27 May.

SANTIAGO DEL TEIDE
