The Canary Islands are bracing for another hot spell, with the Spanish State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) forecasting maximum temperatures that may exceed 30°C on Monday, particularly in the southern and western regions of Gran Canaria.
General Weather Conditions
- Skies: Expect cloudy intervals overnight in the north of all islands and along the eastern coastlines of the easternmost islands. Elsewhere, skies will start partly cloudy, gradually giving way to mid- and high-level cloud cover in the afternoon. There is a low chance of light, isolated showers on the more mountainous islands.
- Calima: A dust haze from the Sahara will affect mid-altitude zones and highlands, reducing visibility and possibly affecting air quality.
- Temperatures: Daytime temperatures will remain largely stable, though slight drops are expected in inland regions of the central islands—especially in higher elevations.
Winds and Sea Conditions
- Wind: A moderate north-easterly wind will prevail. Strong gusts are expected in exposed areas along the north-west and south-east coasts of the mountainous islands, particularly during the early hours and late afternoon. Very strong gusts cannot be ruled out. Gentle breezes are forecast along the south-western shores.
- Central Peaks of Tenerife: Expect south-westerly winds, occasionally strong in the early hours.
- At Sea: Winds will be north to north-east force 4 to 5, temporarily reaching force 6 in the south-east and west. Expect heavy seas in those areas. The north-east coast will see force 3 to 4 winds with moderate to rough swell. In the south-west, expect light, variable winds (force 1 to 3) and slight swell. A north swell up to 1 metre is also anticipated.

- Conditions: Cloudy in the north and on the coasts during early morning, clearing later. Afternoon high cloud cover.
- Calima: At high altitudes.
- Wind: Moderate north-easterly, occasionally strong in southern Jandía in the afternoon.
Gran Canaria
- Conditions: Cloudy in the north with clearer spells around midday. Elsewhere, partly cloudy early, increasing cloudiness in the afternoon with possible light showers.
- Calima: In midlands and higher areas.
- Temperatures: Stable overall, with slight drops in midlands and peaks. South and west midlands may exceed 30°C.
- Wind: Moderate north-easterly with strong gusts in the west and southeast early and late. Breezes on the south-western coast.
Tenerife
- Conditions: Night-time clouds in the north, south, and east. Afternoon brings increased cloud cover and potential isolated rain.
- Calima: At mid and high elevations.
- Temperatures: Generally unchanged, slightly cooler in the midlands and peaks.
- Wind: Moderate north-easterly with strong gusts in exposed western and south-eastern coasts. Strong south-westerlies on the central peaks early in the day. Breezes in the southwest.
La Gomera
- Conditions: Cloudy intervals in the north; elsewhere, partly cloudy early, becoming cloudier in the afternoon.
- Calima: At mid and high altitudes.
- Temperatures: Stable or slightly cooler minimums in higher areas.
- Wind: Moderate north-easterly, occasionally strong in far east and northwest. Breezes on the south-west coast.
La Palma
- Conditions: Cloudy intervals in the north and east; clearer elsewhere in the morning. High and mid-level clouds in the afternoon.
- Calima: In higher areas.
- Temperatures: Largely unchanged with slight decreases in high areas.
- Wind: Moderate north-easterly with strong gusts on the north-western and southern coasts early and late. Breezes on the west coast.
El Hierro
- Conditions: Cloudy intervals in the north, clearing through the day. Partly cloudy elsewhere in the morning with afternoon cloud increase.
