The Spanish State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a yellow weather warning for several Canary Islands this Monday, 7 July, due to strong winds forecast to affect various parts of the archipelago. The islands under alert include Tenerife, Gran Canaria, La Palma, El Hierro, and La Gomera, where wind gusts may reach speeds of up to 80 km/h.
Wind Conditions and Affected Areas
The trade winds (alisios) are expected to blow with notable intensity, particularly across the northwestern and southeastern slopes of the affected islands, as well as the mid-altitude zones (medianías). In Tenerife, the southern slopes of Anaga and the metropolitan area will also be subject to strong gusts, particularly during the early morning hours.
Maritime Conditions and Coastal Warnings

AEMET has maintained its yellow warning for coastal phenomena in Tenerife and Gran Canaria, as well as in the maritime channels between Anaga and Agaete and between Jandía and La Isleta. Winds from the north or northeast could reach 50 to 61 km/h, producing rough to very rough seas. In the northern coastal areas, a northern ground swell is expected to bring waves of up to 3 metres in height.
