Canary Islands weather: Rain, heat, and haze expected this Friday

The Canary Islands face a mix of drizzle, heat above 34 ºC, haze, and rough seas this Friday.

The Canary Islands will face a combination of light rain, rising temperatures, and haze this Friday, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). The forecast points to unsettled skies across much of the archipelago, with the second half of the day bringing the greatest chance of showers.

Rain, Heat, and Calima

Light drizzle or occasional rain is expected, particularly in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and the southern slopes of the larger islands, though accumulations will be minor. At the same time, temperatures will continue to climb, especially in the midlands and highland areas, where highs of 32–34 ºC are forecast.

A light calima will also make its presence felt, gradually increasing through the day, especially in southern-facing mid-altitudes. Winds will blow mainly from the northeast, light to moderate in strength, though breezes are expected on the southwest coasts. In the mountains, winds will shift to the south and southwest at higher altitudes.

Rough Seas

At sea, the situation remains unsettled. Northeasterly winds of force 4 or 5 are predicted on the southeast and west coasts, with isolated pockets reaching force 6. Heavy swells are expected, locally strong until nighttime, while northeast waves could reach between one and two metres.
