Weather forecast for the Canary Islands: Showers return – Don’t forget your umbrella

The Canary Islands will enjoy clearer skies and cooler temperatures on Monday, though strong winds and rough seas remain a concern

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) brings good news to the Canary Islands for this Monday: the likelihood of rain is very low, and skies will clear in many areas during the day. However, caution is still advised due to strong winds and rough seas around the archipelago.

General Forecast

According to AEMET, cloudy skies will dominate the north of the islands in the morning, but clear spells are expected from midday onwards. Across the rest of the islands, the weather will be mostly sunny, with only a slight chance of light and scattered showers in the late afternoon.

Temperatures will fall slightly in many areas, especially in the midlands and highlands, while coastal zones will remain more stable. Maximums are expected to stay between 25–30 ºC, with cooler values inland.

Winds will blow moderately from the north to northeast, with stronger gusts forecast on the southeast and northwest coasts. In contrast, breezes will dominate the southwest coasts of the mountainous islands.

Sea Conditions

The sea remains the main area of concern. Northeast winds of force 4–5 are expected, rising to force 6 in some eastern and western stretches, particularly around Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and the mountainous islands.
Swell conditions will be heavy to very heavy, with ground swells producing waves up to one metre high. Authorities are advising caution for sailors, fishermen, and coastal visitors.
