The 7 Islas restaurant, led by chef Simón Rodríguez, has claimed the title of “Best Burger in La Palma 2025” during the second edition of the competition, held as part of the II Saborea La Palma Gastronomy Fair. Organized by the Cabildo de La Palma and Sodepal, the contest has become one of the signature highlights of the island’s culinary calendar.
A Celebration of Local Talent
The event took place in Los Llanos de Aridane under the umbrella of Come La Palma, the gastronomic festival that aims to strengthen the local economy and spotlight the creativity of the island’s chefs.
- Second place went to Saman Food Truck.
- Third place was awarded to Buen Rollito.
Together, the three finalists showcased not only their individual skills but also the diverse and innovative spirit of La Palma’s restaurant sector, impressing a jury of gastronomy specialists.
Beyond a Burger Contest
More than just a competition, the initiative reflects the broader mission of Come La Palma: to celebrate flavors while promoting professionals and positioning La Palma as a culinary reference in Spain. Now in its second year, the fair has established itself as a meeting point for chefs, producers, and food lovers, all united by a commitment to local products and cultural identity.
On September 26 and 27, the program featured presentations by renowned chefs such as:
- José Alberto Díaz (El Sitio)
- Daniel Tejera (Troqué)
- Pedro Hernández (El Duende del Fuego)
These sessions highlighted the gastronomic DNA of La Palma, while panels on beekeeping, innovation, communication, and education reinforced the fair’s role as a space for dialogue and reflection.
Impact on the Island

According to Miriam Perestelo, the Cabildo’s Minister for Economic Promotion and CEO of Sodepal, the competition represents far more than a culinary challenge:
“The Best Burger in La Palma contest is a showcase for the talent of our restaurateurs and the quality of local products that identify the island. Initiatives like Come La Palma reaffirm our commitment to boosting the local economy and elevating professionals in the sector. La Palma’s gastronomy is enjoying an extraordinary moment, and events like this put us on the national map as a benchmark for creativity, quality, and authenticity.”
The fair also serves as a cultural and touristic driver, offering both residents and visitors a unique experience that blends flavor, landscape, and heritage.
Looking Ahead
With the success of this year’s event, the organization has already confirmed a third edition in 2026, ensuring that the search for La Palma’s best burger will continue while strengthening the island’s reputation as a gastronomic destination.
