Aemet issues yellow weather warning for rain in the Canary Islands

Heavy rain and strong winds mark a turbulent end to the week in the Canaries.

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain affecting the east of La Palma from 12 noon to 11:59 p.m. on Friday, 21 November, and continuing throughout Saturday.

According to Aemet, accumulated rainfall could reach up to 60 millimetres in just 12 hours, particularly in mid-altitude areas of the island.

For Friday across the Canary Islands, the forecast points to cloudy intervals and a high probability of rain, especially persistent in La Palma.

Temperatures will remain mostly stable, while northeasterly winds will blow with strong gusts in the north-west and south-east, and light breezes will dominate along the south-western coasts.
