The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a weather warning for the Canary Islands, predicting a mix of showers, haze and fluctuating cloud cover over the coming hours.
Today’s forecast
Aemet expects partly cloudy skies during the morning, with intervals of high cloud, becoming increasingly cloudy from midday, particularly across inland areas and the southern slopes. These locations are likely to see occasional rainfall, which may take the form of brief, scattered showers.
A haze will also be present, although this is forecast to lift gradually: first across low-lying areas during the morning, and later across mid-altitude zones towards late afternoon.
Looking ahead: possible “dust storms” tomorrow

The agency has cautioned that episodes of suspended dust—informally described as dust storms—could develop across the archipelago tomorrow, reducing visibility and potentially affecting air quality.
Temperatures and wind conditions
Temperatures will show a slight decline, falling more noticeably in mid-altitude regions. Highs are expected to reach around 23°C in Tenerife, while the lowest temperatures will dip to around 16°C on El Hierro.
Winds will blow moderately from the northeast, strengthening at times in southeastern and north-western low-lying areas from midday. Light coastal breezes will dominate along the south-west coast. In the mountainous zones, winds will begin light to moderate from the southeast during the early hours, gradually veering to the north throughout the day.
Forecast by island

Gran Canaria
Cloud cover will vary between high and low clouds, becoming more widespread and overcast from the afternoon, when light rain is likely, particularly in the northeast, though it cannot be ruled out elsewhere.
The haze will follow a similar pattern as in the rest of the islands, clearing progressively in lower areas during the morning and retreating from mid-altitudes later in the afternoon.
Lanzarote and Fuerteventura
Both islands will experience intervals of high and low cloud, becoming more compact around midday, when isolated light rain cannot be ruled out. Temperatures will be slightly lower overall, with a notable drop in maximums in inland areas. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, values will range from 17°C to 24°C.
Winds across these islands will generally blow moderately from the northeast, in line with the wider regional pattern.
