The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts a day of unsettled weather on Wednesday, particularly across the northern areas of the higher islands, where cloudy skies and light to moderate rainfall are expected, especially in mid-altitude zones and during the first half of the day.
Rainfall will become lighter and more sporadic as the afternoon progresses. Across the rest of the archipelago, cloudy intervals are expected, with only a small chance of isolated showers.
Temperatures
Temperatures will remain largely stable, reaching around 22°C in parts of Tenerife, and dropping to 15°C in El Hierro.
Wind
Winds will blow from the northeast under a moderate trade wind regime, with strong gusts likely on southeastern and north-western slopes, as well as in the higher peaks, where very strong gusts cannot be ruled out during the early morning and late evening. In the southwest, coastal breezes will dominate.
Sea conditions

Aemet expects northeasterly winds of force 4 to 6, accompanied by swell or heavy swell, a northern swell of 1–2 metres, and the possibility of showers towards the end of the day.
Coastal warnings and government response
On Lanzarote, a yellow warning for coastal phenomena has been issued for Wednesday, with combined northern seas forecast to reach 4 metres offshore.
From Thursday, 4 December, the warning will be extended to the rest of the islands, mainly affecting:
- the north of Tenerife
- the north of Gran Canaria
- the east of La Palma
On La Gomera, El Hierro and Fuerteventura, warnings will apply to the entire coastline. In advance of the worsening conditions, the Canary Islands Government’s Directorate-General for Emergencies has declared a pre-alert for coastal phenomena across the archipelago from 08:00 on Wednesday.
