The Canary Islands are set to experience a transition in weather conditions on Thursday, with rainfall gradually giving way to drier air and the possible arrival of light calima, according to the latest forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
General Weather Outlook
Predominantly cloudy skies are expected in the north and east of the islands, where occasional rainfall may occur. In some areas, particularly those exposed to northerly flows, the rain could be locally moderate. Elsewhere across the archipelago, skies will alternate between cloudy intervals and brighter spells, although cloud cover is forecast to increase during the afternoon in western areas, where isolated precipitation cannot be ruled out.
As the day progresses, atmospheric conditions are expected to stabilise, paving the way for drier weather and, in some islands, a slight intrusion of suspended dust later in the day.
Temperatures

Minimum temperatures will remain largely unchanged across the archipelago. Maximum temperatures, however, are forecast to rise slightly, with a moderate increase possible in mid-altitude areas and on northern slopes.
Daytime temperatures are expected to range from around 21°C in Tenerife to lows of approximately 10°C in El Hierro, particularly in higher or more exposed areas. In the central peaks, light frost is possible, and in some locations it may become locally moderate.
Wind Conditions
Moderate north-easterly winds will prevail for much of the day. During the early morning hours, winds are expected to be strong, with occasional very strong gusts affecting the south-eastern and extreme north-western slopes, as well as the central highlands.
As the day advances, winds will gradually veer towards the east and decrease in intensity, except in the central peaks, where strong winds are likely to persist.
Provincial Forecast: Las Palmas

In the province of Las Palmas, Thursday will bring predominantly cloudy to overcast skies in the north and east of Gran Canaria, with a chance of occasional light to locally moderate rain. In the rest of the island, skies will be variable with periods of cloud.
For Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, cloudy intervals are forecast, with a low probability of light, scattered showers, mainly in northern areas and around midday. From the afternoon onwards, skies are expected to become slightly cloudy, with the possibility of light calima, particularly at higher altitudes.
Temperatures in the province will show little variation overnight, while daytime highs will increase slightly, potentially more noticeably in mid-altitude and mountainous areas. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, temperatures are expected to range between 16°C and 21°C.
Winds will blow moderately from the north-east, strengthening during the early hours with possible very strong gusts in the south-east, north-west and mountainous zones. Throughout the day, winds are forecast to ease and gradually turn easterly.
