Calm and sunny conditions to start the week: weather outlook for the Canary Islands

Conditions will remain stable throughout the day, with only light winds at lower levels and no significant weather changes expected.

The Canary Islands are set to begin the week under stable and largely settled weather conditions this Monday, 9 February 2026, according to the latest forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET). No significant weather disruptions are expected, with calm conditions prevailing across most of the archipelago.

Overall, skies will remain mostly clear, although some variations are forecast throughout the day depending on the island and altitude.

Cloud cover: high clouds later in the day

During the second half of the day, intervals of high cloud are expected to develop across parts of the archipelago. In addition, low cloud may appear more sporadically in the north of the mountainous islands, as well as in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, particularly during the night-time hours.

These low clouds are most likely to form at elevations below 1,100 to 1,300 metres, without bringing any significant rainfall.

Temperatures: stable, with local increases at higher elevations

Temperatures are expected to show little change compared to previous days, remaining mild and typical for this time of year. However, AEMET does not rule out slight local increases, which could become moderate in high-altitude areas, especially around Mount Teide.

Overall, conditions will remain comfortable across both coastal and inland areas.

Wind conditions: light breezes, stronger at altitude

Winds will generally blow lightly from the north, with the presence of local sea breezes on the higher islands. In Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, winds will be moderate from the north-west, gradually veering to the north during the afternoon.

At higher elevations and in exposed locations — such as the Caldera de Taburiente and particularly on Mount Teide — moderate north-westerly winds are expected. These conditions should be taken into account by those planning mountain or outdoor activities at altitude.
