The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has confirmed that Monday will be marked by widespread haze (calima) across the Canary Islands, as a mass of dry air carrying dust in suspension settles over the archipelago. The phenomenon will affect all islands, reducing visibility in several areas and influencing local temperature patterns.
According to the official forecast, skies will remain largely clear, although intervals of high cloud cover are expected. Despite the presence of dust, temperatures will remain generally warm, with only moderate variations depending on altitude and island location.
Temperatures and Wind: Key Points
Minimum temperatures are expected to remain largely stable, with slight increases in some areas that could be moderate locally. However, a noticeable drop is forecast in the highest mountain areas.
Maximum temperatures will follow a broadly stable trend, although slight decreases are anticipated in the eastern islands. In parts of Tenerife, thermometers could reach 28°C, making it one of the warmest areas of the day.
The wind will blow predominantly from the east, generally weak to moderate in strength. However, AEMET warns of stronger gusts during the early morning, particularly along the north-western coast of Lanzarote and the western side of Fuerteventura.
Island-by-Island Forecast

Tenerife
The island will experience clear skies with widespread haze, especially affecting the southern and eastern slopes. In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, temperatures are forecast to range between 19°C and 28°C, among the highest readings across the archipelago.
Gran Canaria
Conditions will be similar, with haze present across the island. Temperatures are expected to rise in northern low-lying areas, while cooler conditions will prevail in mountainous zones. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, temperatures will range between 20°C and 24°C.
Lanzarote and Fuerteventura
Both eastern islands will experience persistent calima and stronger easterly winds in the early hours. Maximum temperatures may dip slightly compared to previous days, though warm conditions will continue overall.
La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro
High cloud cover will be more noticeable over the western islands, but haze will remain the dominant feature. In Santa Cruz de La Palma, maximum temperatures could reach 27°C, maintaining a distinctly spring-like atmosphere.
Sea Conditions: Caution Advised

Maritime conditions will also reflect the shift in airflow patterns. In the western islands, north-easterly winds of force 3 to 5 are expected, generating moderate to locally heavy swell. In the eastern islands, winds will blow from the east or south-east at force 2 to 4.
A north-westerly swell of 1 to 2 metres is forecast across the archipelago. Authorities recommend caution in coastal areas, particularly on exposed slopes where wave action may intensify.
Outlook for the Start of the Week
Atmospheric stability combined with suspended dust will continue to define the start of the week. According to AEMET models for the Canary Islands, haze and warm conditions will remain the dominant weather features, with no abrupt changes expected in the immediate short term.
