Wednesday will bring unsettled weather to parts of the Canary Islands, with cloud cover, scattered rainfall and cooler conditions in higher elevations, according to the latest forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). While no severe weather alerts have been issued, the day is expected to be marked by damp conditions in the north and gusty trade winds across exposed areas.
Cloudy Skies and Persistent Rain in the North
The most unstable conditions are forecast for the northern slopes of the islands, where skies will remain largely overcast throughout the day. Light rainfall is likely, and in some areas — particularly in the northeast — showers could become locally moderate and even persistent at times.
In the rest of the archipelago, cloud intervals are expected, with predominantly cloudy conditions in western areas. Southern zones may experience more breaks in the cloud cover, especially later in the day.

Gran Canaria is set to see light to moderate rain in the north, especially in mid-altitude areas during the first half of the day and again in the afternoon, when precipitation could become more sustained. In the south of the island, skies will be partly cloudy, tending to clear towards the evening.
On Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the day will begin with intervals of cloudiness, gradually giving way to lighter cloud cover from midday onwards.
Temperatures Stable, Frost Possible in High Areas
Temperatures across the islands will remain generally stable. However, slight drops in maximum temperatures are expected in high-altitude zones. In the central peaks of Tenerife, light frost cannot be ruled out during the early morning hours.
Maximum temperatures will reach around 19°C in Tenerife, while minimums could fall to approximately 10°C on El Hierro. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, thermometers are forecast to range between 15°C and 19°C.
Despite the mild coastal climate typical of the islands, the combination of cloud cover and wind may create a cooler sensation, particularly in elevated terrain.
Strong Trade Winds with Occasional Intense Gusts

Wind will be another defining feature of the day. Trade winds are expected to blow at moderate to strong intensity, with occasional very strong gusts affecting the southeast and extreme northwest slopes of the mountainous islands.
These gusts are likely to be more frequent and intense during the early morning hours and around midday. In contrast, calmer breezes will prevail along the southwest coasts, where conditions will be comparatively more stable.
A Day of Variable Conditions
Overall, Wednesday will be characterised by a mix of overcast skies in the north, scattered rain, brisk trade winds and cooler temperatures in high-altitude areas. While the weather will not be extreme, the combination of moisture, wind and possible frost in the mountains suggests a day requiring a little extra preparation across several islands.
