The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts a day of contrasts in the Canary Islands, with cloudier conditions in the north of the islands and clearer skies elsewhere. Although temperatures will remain largely unchanged in most areas, some inland and mid-altitude zones could still see values above 30°C.
According to the forecast, skies will be mostly cloudy in northern areas below approximately 800 to 1,000 metres. This cloud cover will affect the usual zones exposed to the trade winds, particularly in the north of the higher islands. During the middle of the day, some sunny spells are expected, although the cloud will remain more persistent in certain areas.
Aemet also points to a low probability of light and occasional drizzle in mid-altitude areas, especially during the early and late hours of the day. Any rainfall is expected to be weak and localised. In the rest of the Archipelago, skies will be partly cloudy or clear, with more sunshine in southern and western areas.
Temperatures remain stable
Temperatures will show little change compared with previous days. In the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, values will range from a high of around 25°C in Tenerife to a low of 13°C on El Hierro.
The general pattern will remain mild, although the presence of cloud in northern areas and stronger winds in exposed zones may create a different sensation depending on location. Southern and inland areas will feel warmer, especially during the central hours of the day.
Strong gusts in exposed parts of Tenerife

Wind will be one of the main features of the day. Aemet forecasts moderate north-easterly winds across the Canary Islands, with stronger gusts in specific areas exposed to the trade-wind flow.
On Tenerife, the strongest gusts are expected on the south-eastern slopes, the far north-west and the mid-altitude areas of the southern slopes of Anaga. In these zones, occasional very strong gusts cannot be ruled out.
The risk of stronger gusts will be more noticeable in exposed areas and places where the terrain can accelerate the wind. On the western coasts, breezes will be more common, bringing calmer conditions compared with the windier slopes.
Gran Canaria: cloudy north and warmer midlands
In Gran Canaria, the north of the island will also see mainly cloudy skies below 800 to 1,000 metres. Some clearer spells are expected during the afternoon, but the early and late hours of the day may remain cloudier.
There is a low chance of light and occasional drizzle in the mid-altitude areas during the early and late hours. Elsewhere on the island, skies will be partly cloudy or clear.
Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, although they may locally exceed 30°C in the midlands of the south-east and west. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, temperatures will range between 19°C and 23°C.
Lanzarote and Fuerteventura: clouds in the north and east

On Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, skies will be mostly cloudy in the north and east at first. However, extensive clear spells are expected during the afternoon, allowing conditions to become brighter as the day progresses.
In the rest of both islands, skies will generally be partly cloudy, although some cloudy intervals may appear during the early hours and late in the day. Temperatures will remain stable, with no major changes expected.
Very strong gusts possible in Gran Canaria
The wind in Gran Canaria will blow moderately from the north-east, but it will generally become strong on the south-eastern and western slopes. In these areas, occasional very strong gusts are likely, especially during the afternoon.
This wind pattern is typical of trade-wind situations in the Canary Islands, where the relief of the islands can intensify the wind in certain corridors and exposed slopes. On the south-western coasts, breezes will prevail, offering more sheltered and calmer conditions.
Overall, the Canary Islands will experience a typical trade-wind weather pattern, with more cloud and possible drizzle in the north, clearer skies in the south, stable temperatures and strong gusts in exposed areas. The highest temperatures are expected in parts of Gran Canaria, where values could locally exceed 30°C.
