The Canary Islands will continue to feel the effects of the current spell of heat this Saturday, with temperatures rising slightly across the archipelago and reaching up to 32°C in some inland and mid-altitude areas, according to the latest forecast from the State Meteorological Agency, Aemet.
For this Saturday, 4 July 2026, Aemet forecasts cloudy skies along the coast during the early hours of the day, while the rest of the islands will see partly cloudy conditions. As the morning progresses, the cloud cover is expected to break up in several areas, giving way to clearer skies in many parts of the archipelago.
Temperatures will rise slightly, with the increase likely to be more noticeable in maximum temperatures in inland areas. Across the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, thermometers will range from a high of around 31°C in Tenerife to lower values on the western islands, with El Hierro recording minimum temperatures of around 19°C.
The wind will generally be light from the north-west during the first part of the day, tending to become moderate in the afternoon. Some strong gusts may occur at night in the far north-east and south-west of the islands. On the mountain peaks, a moderate southerly wind is expected.
Gran Canaria: coastal cloud clearing during the morning
In the province of Las Palmas, Gran Canaria will begin the day with cloudy skies along the coast, particularly during the early hours. This cloud cover is expected to clear gradually throughout the morning, leaving partly cloudy or mostly clear skies across much of the island.
However, cloudy intervals may return to the north of Gran Canaria during the night, especially in areas exposed to the trade winds.
Temperatures will also rise slightly on the island. The increase will be more noticeable in inland areas and in mid-altitude zones, particularly on south- and west-facing slopes, where maximum values may reach between 30°C and 32°C. Mountain peak areas may also experience warmer conditions.
In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, temperatures will remain milder due to the influence of the sea and the trade winds, with values ranging between a minimum of 22°C and a maximum of 26°C.
Lanzarote and Fuerteventura: cloudier coasts, clearer skies later
In Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, Aemet expects cloudy spells along coastal areas during the first part of the day. Cloud cover will be thicker on the northern and western sides of both islands.
From midday onwards, the skies are expected to become partly cloudy or mostly clear, especially in areas less exposed to the prevailing wind. The day will therefore begin with more cloud in coastal zones before giving way to brighter and warmer conditions during the afternoon.
Temperatures will rise slightly, with a more moderate increase in maximum values in inland areas. In some interior zones, especially those facing south and west or located at mid-altitude, temperatures may reach 30°C to 32°C.
Light north-westerly wind, strengthening later
The wind will remain generally light from the north-west during the first half of the day, with breezes prevailing around midday in many coastal areas. From the evening and into the night, the wind is expected to strengthen and become moderate from the north.
On the mountain peaks, Aemet forecasts moderate southerly winds, which may contribute to the rise in temperatures in higher areas.
Overall, Saturday will bring a combination of early coastal cloud, warmer inland temperatures and generally moderate winds. Although the most extreme values of the recent heatwave are not expected, Aemet continues to forecast summer heat in several parts of the Canary Islands, especially inland, in mid-altitude areas and on south- and west-facing slopes.
