The State Meteorological Agency Aemet forecasts mostly stable weather across the Canary Islands this Tuesday, 25 August, although temperatures may again reach 30°C in some areas and the wind could become locally strong.
In the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the day will be marked by light cloud or clear skies. However, some cloudy spells are expected in the north, east and west of Tenerife during the first half of the day.
Temperatures will remain largely unchanged. In Tenerife, the highest values could reach 30°C in areas along the southern coast and in the south-east of the metropolitan area.
The wind will generally blow light to moderate from the north-east. On the peaks, it will initially be light from the west, before increasing to moderate or strong on the central summits. Aemet also points to a low probability of very strong gusts on Mount Teide.
Mostly clear skies in Gran Canaria
In Gran Canaria, the weather will also be generally stable. Skies will be partly cloudy or clear for most of the day, although some cloud is expected in the north during the first half of the day and again in the late afternoon.
Temperatures will remain largely unchanged and may locally reach 30°C in low-lying areas of the south and west of the island. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Aemet forecasts temperatures ranging between a minimum of 23°C and a maximum of 27°C.
Lanzarote and Fuerteventura
Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will also see mostly clear or partly cloudy skies. Some cloud may develop towards the end of the day, according to Aemet. Temperatures are expected to remain stable, with no major changes compared with previous days.
Wind in exposed coastal areas and high ground
Wind will be another feature of Tuesday’s forecast. Across the eastern islands, a moderate north-easterly breeze is expected.
Occasionally strong gusts may occur along the south-eastern and far-western coasts of Gran Canaria. In higher areas, the wind will start light from the west, before becoming moderate after midday.
On Tenerife, the central peaks will see the most notable wind conditions, with the possibility of moderate to strong winds and a low chance of very strong gusts around Mount Teide.
Overall, the Canary Islands will experience a mostly calm and warm Tuesday, with clear skies in many areas, temperatures close to 30°C in the warmest spots and stronger winds limited mainly to exposed coasts and mountain peaks.
