It has been decided! From 27 March until 10 April the voting was open for the public to choose between four options for a theme of the next Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife: Television, Antarctica, Greece or Japan, and today the results were announced.

Finally “Television” will be the theme for the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in 2024, scheduled to be held between 12 January and 18 February. This option was pronounced as the winning one after the clolsing of the online voting organised by the capital’s City Council, through its Autonomous Body for Festivals and Recreational Activities (OAFAR).

This theme accumulated a total of 2,313 votes, which represented 31% of popular support over the other options. In second position, and with a support of 2,267 people, was ‘Japan’. Classical Greece’ and ‘Antarctica, the cold winter’ received 2,184 and 701 votes, respectively.

The councillor for Festivities, Alfonso Cabello, expressed his excitement at learning the new theme of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival, thanking “the complicity and commitment to the carnival of all the people who voted for the 2024 theme”.

According to Cabello, “with this step, the engines of creativity of our festival of international tourist interest are set in motion”; for an edition, which the mayor stresses will have the organisational challenge of practically overlapping with the Christmas and Epiphany festivities.
