Rain to temporarily depart Canary Islands, but return expected soon

Moderate northeasterly winds will prevail, with increased intensity on the northwestern and southeastern slopes of the high-relief islands and possibility of light rain.

Today’s weather forecast for the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife suggests varying conditions across the region. In the northern parts of the islands, it is expected to be predominantly cloudy, while the rest of the slopes will experience intervals of cloudiness. There is a slight chance of weak and sporadic rainfall in the morning in the north and in the afternoon in the inland areas of the southern slopes.


According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), temperatures will remain fairly consistent, with highs reaching around 25 degrees Celsius and lows around 21 degrees Celsius.

Winds will blow moderately from the northeast, with greater intensity on the northwestern and southeastern slopes of the more elevated islands.

In Gran Canaria, the northern regions will see cloudy skies with a low possibility of light and occasional morning rain. The rest of the areas will have intervals of cloudiness, except for the interior of the southwest slope, where cloud cover will increase in the afternoon with a slight chance of light rain.

For Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the forecast also predicts intervals of cloudiness with clearing in the morning, as reported by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

Temperature-wise, there won’t be significant changes. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, expect maximum temperatures around 24 degrees Celsius and minimums of about 20 degrees Celsius.

The wind will be moderately blowing from the northeast, becoming more intense during the afternoon on the northwest and southeast slopes.
