Tenerife recently participated in the annual conference of the Signature Travel Network, a key event in the travel industry, held in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the start of November. This event, accessible to members of Signature agencies and suppliers, saw over 2,500 sector professionals in attendance, including 1,652 travel agents and 846 Signature members. Tenerife used this platform to showcase its diverse range of products and services to the participants.
At the conference, a workshop about the island was conducted for about 200 travel agents, featuring a 30-minute presentation about the island. Tenerife Tourism representatives also engaged in both group and individual meetings with over 180 professionals from the tourism industry.
Lope Afonso, the Vice President and Councillor for Tourism of the Island Council for the island, remarked on the strengthening of Tenerife’s presence in the United States through various promotional activities. These efforts are coordinated with the tourist representation office in the United States to increase awareness of the destination.
Dimple Melwani, the CEO of Tourism, highlighted the significance of Tenerife’s participation at the Signature Travel Network event. She noted the North American market’s substantial growth in visiting the island, particularly during the summer and winter seasons. Melwani emphasized the ongoing efforts to strengthen Tenerife’s ties with the North American market during these periods.
The Signature Travel Network event brought together around 570 travel industry companies from across the globe, including hotels, airlines, and service providers from the United States and Canada. The event featured a speed-dating style setup with approximately 50,000 meetings between members and travel agents of the association.
In early December, Tenerife will attend the USTOA Annual Conference & Marketplace 2023 in Los Angeles, organized by the United States Tour Operators Association. This event aims to provide members with direct access to industry leaders and executives of top American travel companies. Tenerife will be the official sponsor of the JOLT networking sessions at this event, showcasing a promotional video to around 600 tourism professionals and holding about 60 meetings to attract attention to the island.
For 45 years, this event has been unique in the U.S. travel industry, connecting American travel companies with global travel suppliers and destinations in an exclusive setting.
Tenerife has also joined the Virtuoso travel agency network, enhancing its visibility among over 21,000 agents worldwide. Additionally, it became an affiliate member of the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA), one of the world’s largest travel trade associations. Tenerife’s promotional activities in the United States are complemented by campaigns with tour operators like United Airlines.
