Temperature increase and possibility of rain in the Canary Islands

At the start of this week, the Canary Islands could see maximum temperatures hitting 24ºC.

At the onset of this week, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts periods of cloudiness across the Canary Islands, with a slight chance of sporadic, light showers, especially on the northern and western slopes during the morning hours. Temperatures are expected to remain stable or experience a slight increase.


Winds will generally be moderate, coming from the west and shifting to lighter northwesterly breezes by the evening. Maritime conditions predict western and northwestern winds at force 3 to 4, occasionally reaching 5, calming to variable forces 2 to 3 later.

The sea state will transition from rough to moderate, with variable winds of force 2 or 3 expected along the south, east, and southeast coasts, where the sea may be moderate or rough. A northwesterly swell with heights between 3 to 4 meters is anticipated, diminishing overnight to 2 to 3 meters, alongside potential showers on La Palma.

For Santa Cruz de Tenerife, cloud coverage is expected to increase in the afternoon, leading to a minor chance of isolated, light showers. Temperatures will vary slightly, with expected highs of 24°C and lows of 17°C in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Santa Cruz de La Palma, and highs of 22°C and lows of 17°C in San Sebastián de La Gomera. Valverde will see highs up to 19°C and lows down to 13°C. The wind will vary lightly, predominantly coming from the north along coasts and from the west in elevated areas.

In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, similar weather conditions are anticipated, with cloudy intervals becoming more prevalent in the afternoon and a slight chance of scattered showers. Temperature forecasts include highs of 22°C and lows of 18°C in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, highs of 23°C and lows of 15°C in Arrecife, and highs of 24°C with lows of 16°C in Puerto del Rosario. Winds will be light and variable, with a northerly breeze on the coasts and a westerly breeze in higher elevations.
