Forecast: temperatures in the Canary Islands to reach up to 32ºC

This is the weather outlook for the Canary Islands this Thursday, May 9th.

Today’s weather forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) for the Canary Islands predicts overcast skies across the region, characterized by high and medium cloudiness, and occasional low clouds along the northeast coast during the early morning and afternoon.


Temperature-wise, there will be a slight increase, with the mercury expected to peak at 27 degrees Celsius in Tenerife and drop to a minimum of 19 degrees Celsius on El Hierro.

Winds from the northeast will be moderate, with periods of increased intensity on the southeast slopes and northwest facade of the metropolitan area, shifting to the north in the later hours. At higher elevations, expect light winds of variable direction.

In Gran Canaria, expect cloudy conditions with high and medium clouds, interspersed with low clouds in the north during the early morning and afternoon. Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will experience high cloudiness with intervals of low clouds in the inland and western coastal areas during the same periods, as reported by Aemet.

Minimum temperatures will see a slight rise, while maximum temperatures will remain relatively unchanged. Temperatures could reach 30-32ºC in the inland areas and on the southern and western coastal slopes. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, expect maximum temperatures to hover between 26ºC and a minimum of 18ºC.

Wind conditions will feature moderate northern winds, with strong intervals in the northwest, west, and southeast. At the summits, there will be a moderate northeast wind that will lighten in the morning.
