The Canary Islands will experience a Sunday marked by mainly clear skies, rising temperatures in some areas and a noticeable strengthening of the trade winds. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the weather will remain generally stable across most of the archipelago, although northern parts of the higher islands will see more cloud cover during the first hours of the day.
Aemet forecasts cloudy intervals in northern areas, especially where the trade winds tend to accumulate moisture. Light and occasional rain cannot be ruled out in these zones during the early morning, particularly in mid-altitude areas. However, conditions are expected to improve as the day progresses, with wider clear spells developing from the afternoon onwards.
Temperatures will remain stable in many areas, although slight increases are expected. The rise will be more noticeable in south- and west-facing mid-altitude areas of the higher islands, where values may exceed 30°C.
The trade wind will blow at moderate strength, but it will become more intense in certain areas. Periods of strong wind are expected in the channels between islands and on exposed slopes. Aemet also warns that very strong gusts are likely at times during the afternoon, especially in areas where the terrain accelerates the wind.
At sea, north or north-easterly winds of force 4 to 5 are expected, with areas of heavy swell.
The weather in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Tenerife
In Tenerife, cloudy skies are expected in the north during the early hours, especially below 1,500 metres. There is a chance of light rain in the north-eastern mid-altitude areas, although this rainfall is expected to be weak and occasional.
By the afternoon, the cloud cover should break up, giving way to widespread clear spells. In the rest of the island, skies will remain mostly clear throughout the day.
Maximum temperatures will rise in the southern and western midlands, as well as in higher-altitude areas. In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, temperatures will range between 22°C and 28°C.
The trade winds will be one of the main features of the day. Very strong gusts are expected in the afternoon in the south-east and the far north-west of the island.

In La Gomera, cloud cover will remain stagnant in the north during the morning, with a possibility of light showers in mid-altitude areas. These clouds are expected to clear during the afternoon.
The south of the island will remain partly cloudy, with brighter conditions for much of the day. Temperatures will show little change overall, although slight increases are expected at higher elevations.
