The latest forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) points to a subtle but noticeable change in weather conditions across the Canary Islands from Tuesday, 5 May. After several days of largely stable and sunny weather, increasing cloud cover and the possibility of light rainfall are set to mark a transition in the atmospheric pattern across the archipelago.
From stable skies to increasing cloud cover
Monday will continue to reflect the calm conditions that have characterised the recent weather, with partly cloudy skies and only occasional cloud formation in northern and eastern areas during the early morning and late evening.
However, this stable scenario will begin to shift on Tuesday. AEMET forecasts a more variable sky, with low cloud dominating the northern slopes of the islands, while medium and high cloud layers are expected to spread across other parts of the archipelago.
Light rain possible, especially in elevated areas

Although widespread rainfall is not anticipated, the forecast does include the possibility of light and occasional showers. These are most likely to occur in higher-altitude regions, particularly on the peaks of Tenerife, where cloud development tends to be more pronounced.
Any rainfall is expected to be weak and localised, without significant accumulation, but it represents a clear departure from the dry conditions experienced over the weekend.
Temperatures remain stable with slight increases
Despite the increase in cloud cover, temperatures across the Canary Islands will remain relatively stable. Minimum temperatures will hover around 19°C, while maximum values in the main capitals are expected to range between 23°C and 24°C.
This stability reinforces the overall mild character of the weather, even as atmospheric conditions become slightly more unsettled.
Wind conditions and short-term outlook

Winds will blow moderately from the north-east, with greater intensity at mid-altitudes and stronger gusts in exposed areas. These trade winds will continue to play a key role in shaping cloud formation and local weather variations.
Looking ahead, AEMET suggests that conditions may stabilise again in the following days, although intervals of cloud and the possibility of light rain in inland areas—especially on the more mountainous islands—will persist. A slight drop in temperatures is also expected from Wednesday into Thursday.
A gentle transition in weather patterns
Overall, the Canary Islands are entering a brief period of atmospheric change. While conditions will remain largely mild and manageable, the increase in cloud cover and the possibility of light rain signal a temporary shift away from the settled weather of recent days, particularly in elevated and inland regions of the archipelago.
