Rainy Tuesday in the Canary Islands: Aemet indicates where rainfall will be persistent

Rain will affect the north and north-east of the higher Canary Islands, with persistent showers in parts of La Palma and strong gusts in exposed areas of Tenerife.

The Canary Islands will see a rainy Tuesday this 13 October, according to the forecast from the State Meteorological Agency Aemet. Rainfall is expected mainly in the north and north-east of the islands with the highest elevations, where cloudy skies and showers will mark much of the day.

Some of the rainfall may reach moderate intensity, particularly in areas exposed to the north-easterly flow. In La Palma, rain may also be persistent in some parts of the island. The forecast also includes stronger winds in several areas of the archipelago, with locally very strong gusts possible in Tenerife, especially on the south-eastern slopes and in the far west of the island.

Temperatures will remain largely unchanged or rise slightly. The highest values are expected in Arrecife, where temperatures may reach 28°C, while the lowest values will be recorded in Valverde, with a minimum of 16°C. Aemet also forecasts a temporary worsening of sea conditions, especially in waters around the western province.

Where will it rain the most this Tuesday in the Canary Islands?

According to Aemet, La Palma will be one of the islands most affected by rainfall this Tuesday. The rain will be most persistent in the mid-altitude areas of the north and east of the island, where light to moderate precipitation is expected.

In Tenerife, cloudy skies will prevail in the north. Occasional rain is expected, and it may reach moderate intensity in some areas. The rainfall in Tenerife will be more frequent in the north-eastern midlands, where the weather will be more unstable during the day.

In Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the day will begin with intervals of low and high cloud. Cloud cover is expected to increase during the morning, although clear spells will develop again in the afternoon.

Strong winds in Tenerife

A moderate north-easterly wind will blow across much of the Canary Islands this Tuesday. However, the wind will strengthen in certain areas of the archipelago. In Tenerife, strong winds are expected at times around the middle of the day, particularly on the south-eastern slopes and in the far west of the island.

In these areas, locally very strong gusts cannot be ruled out. In Gran Canaria, the wind may also become strong during the afternoon, especially on the south-eastern and north-western slopes. La Palma will see occasionally strong easterly winds in mid-altitude and high-altitude areas. In El Hierro, strong spells of wind are expected on the south-eastern and western slopes.

Sea conditions

Sea conditions will also be affected by the wind. Aemet forecasts north-easterly winds of force three to five, which may locally reach force six at certain points along the coast of Tenerife.
