Two Canarian hotels are finalists for Spain's prestigious ‘Best Hotel Breakfast’ award, celebrating their exceptional morning dining experiences.

The prestigious Madrid Fusion Foods of Spain has revealed the eight finalists for the second edition of the ‘Best Hotel Breakfast’ award, celebrating Spanish hotels that excel in delivering an outstanding breakfast experience. Among the nominees are two standout establishments from the Canary Islands, representing Lanzarote and Tenerife.


Award Categories and Nominations

The competition divides the finalists into two categories: Boutique Hotels and Chain Hotels. The winners of both categories, along with a special mention for exceptional efforts in the field, will be announced during the Madrid Fusión Pastry Congress, set to take place from 27 to 29 January 2025.

The Boutique Hotels Category

  1. Hotel César, Lanzarote:
    • Guided by renowned chef Juanjo López Biédmar, this hotel emphasises local ingredients in its breakfasts. Highlights include expertly crafted egg dishes and gourmet sandwiches such as the Club and Montecristo.
  2. Hotel Boutique Casa Cacao, Girona:
    • Operated by the famed Roca brothers, this hotel offers an extensive brunch featuring dishes like eggs with truffle and traditional Catalan cap i pota, all served on a terrace with stunning views of Girona.
  3. Hotel Cañitas Maite, Albacete:
    • Known for its locally sourced produce and regional specialties, this hotel serves vegetable stir-fries and seasonal sausages prepared by chefs Javier Sanz and Juan Sahuquillo.
  4. Hotel Eunice, Salamanca:
    • Guests enjoy signature breakfasts crafted in a vintage kitchen, offering a three-stage menu with highlights such as Iberian sausages, homemade pastries, and a famous tortilla-revuelto.

    • Famous for its on-demand egg preparation, this hotel complements its offerings with a buffet featuring artisanal Canarian cheeses, tropical fruits, and premium cured meats from mainland Spain.
  2. Hotel Ercilla, Bilbao:
    • Renowned for its classic breakfast options, including English breakfast, eggs benedict, and organic yoghurts, all served in the elegant Lobby Bar.
  3. Boho Club, Marbella:
    • Chef Diego del Río offers a blend of healthy options like smoothies and granolas alongside haute cuisine dishes such as eggs benedict and smoked salmon.
  4. Hotel Urban, Madrid:
    • A landmark in Madrid, this hotel features a wide variety of options, including detox juices, smoked fish, and Mallorcan sobrasada. Guests can also indulge in gourmet pancakes and an ever-changing selection of signature cakes.
